James is a Board-Certified Family Physician and has been practicing family medicine and acute care since completing his residency in family medicine at Mercy Hospital in Denver in 1994. After a year of Locum Tenens work, including a 4 month stint in Hawaii and a year at The Wound Healing Center in Denver, Dr Hutcherson settled in the Evergreen area. After spending 6 years at The Chicago Creek Clinic in Idaho Springs, he began work at Urgent Care Evergreen from February, 2002 through May of 2004. In August, 2004, he opened Arapahoe Peak Health Center with a team of other highly dedicated professionals, where he is the lead physician.
Dr Hutcherson grew up in Athens, Georgia and attended the University of Georgia. He received his medical degree from The Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. The most significant inspiration in pursuing a career in medicine has been his grandmother, Dr. Leila Denmark, who practiced pediatrics in the Atlanta area until the age of 103 (and turned 111 in 2009!)
Dr. Hutcherson has special interests in acute/urgent care, wound management and preventive medicine. He stresses the importance of educating his patients concerning their health and well being. He believes in developing a partnership with his patients and encourages their input with their ongoing health plan.
He is very excited about Arapahoe Peak Health Center and being able to offer a new choice for health care in the foothills.
Dr Hutcherson currently lives in Evergreen with his wife Karen, a graphic designer, and their son Jake and daughter Hayden.
