ARAPAHOE PEAK HEALTH CENTER is pleased to have the affiliation of Dr. Fred Buchwald with our office. Dr. Buchwald is a Board-Certified Family Physician who has been practicing in Evergreen since 1978. His extensive experience as a physician, and as a member of our community, provides an additional dimension to the Medical Team at our facility.
Dr. Buchwald is a native of New York, received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry at Brooklyn College, and his Medical Degree at the Sate University of New York at Buffalo. He served in the US Public Health Service and then completed a Family Practice residency at Mercy Hospital in Denver. After completing his training, he practiced briefly in Lakewood, then moved to Evergreen in 1978, and has treated patients there ever since. He has acted as the Medical Director for Mount Evans Hospice and Home Health Care since its inception. Periodically, he has helped to train Medical students from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, and holds the position of Assistant Clinical Professor of Family Medicine there.
"Getting to know, and developing a relationship with my patients forms the core of providing quality medical care. My goal is to help my patients maintain their health at the highest level possible. First and foremost, I want to assist them in establishing a healthy lifestyle. Like my associates at Arapahoe Peak Health Center, I view medical treatment as a collaborative process between physician and patient."
Dr. Buchwald is married to Cathy, a former teacher of Biology, and they have two daughters who both reside in the Denver area. He also has a new grandchild, Max, born in 2008. Dr. Buchwald's interests outside of medicine are varied, and include nature and landscape photography, cabinet making, oriental cooking, hiking, cycling, scuba diving, and skiing. He is also very involved with music, playing guitar and percussion. He occasionally performs at local Evergreen venues with other acoustic musicians.
